Cody J. Townsend


Cody Townsend is an Attorney at Kearney, McWilliams, and Davis, PLLC, practicing in Tax, Business Transactions, Estate Planning, and Oil & Gas.

Cody earned his J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law (2023). During law school, Cody took advantage of the numerous Business and Estate Law courses offered at the University of Wyoming, including, Trust and Estates, Advanced Trust and Estates, Agency and Partnership, Basic Federal Income Taxation, Taxation of Business Entities, and Gift and Estate Taxation. In addition to his business-related focus, Cody had the opportunity to assist clients throughout Wyoming on a pro bono basis through the University’s Civil Legal Services Program.

Mr. Townsend is currently attending the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he is pursuing his Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.). In the LL.M. program, Cody is studying complex tax issues that arise in business tax, estate tax, and international tax. Mr. Townsend will complete his Tax LL.M. in the Spring of 2024. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, camping, hiking and skiing.

Mr. Townsend is licensed to practice law in Wyoming. He is based in the Sheridan, Wyoming office of Kearney, McWilliams & Davis, PLLC.
